Understanding Your Tata Sky Universal Remote
The modes on your Tata Sky Remote
Your Tata Sky Remote has two
modes:
- SET Top Box (STB) mode: This is the default mode and allows you to control your set top box.
- TV Mode: This mode allows you to control your TV. When in this mode, the red LED light on your remote will remain lit. If there is no button pressed on the remote, within 15 seconds the LED light will stop glowing and return to STB mode.
To switch between STB and TV
modes, press the UNIV button on your remote.
PROGRAMMING YOUR REMOTE
You can programme your Tata Sky Remote
to control following functions on your TV:
- POWER
- VOLUME+
- VOLUME-
- MUTE (HDMI, AV etc)
To programme your Tata Sky remote, follow these steps:
- Simultaneously press and hold the SELECT + number 2 buttons on the Tata Sky remote for 3 seconds. When the LED blinks twice, release these buttons.
- Press and release the POWER button on the Tata Sky remote. The LED will turn OFF when the button is pressed and will turn ON when the button is released.
- Place
both the Tata Sky and the TV remote on a flat horizontal surface (like a table
top). The remotes should be placed 3-6 cms apart with their respective LEDs
facing each other.
- Now press the POWER button on your TV remote. Keep it pressed till the LED on the Tata Sky remote blinks twice to confirm successful programming. If the LED blinks 4 times, it means the programming was unsuccessful and you have to start over from step 1.
- Press the SELECT button on your Tata Sky remote to save the programmed function. The LED blinks twice and then turns off.
- Your Tata Sky remote is now programmed to power on/off your TV.
- Now take your Tata Sky remote for a test run! Just press the UNIV button (the LED will remain lit) and then press the POWER button. Your TV will be powered ON/OFF.
- Follow steps 1-5 again to programme the other buttons one by one. Replace the POWER button in steps 2 and 4 with the VOL+, VOL-, MUTE and SOURCE buttons.
Note:
- The Tata Sky remote does not have a SOURCE button. To programme SOURCE, press the HELP button on the Tata Sky remote in step 2, and the SOURCE button on your TV remote in step 4. All other steps remain the same.
- If you programme more than one remote, the Tata Sky remote will retain only the functions from the last programmed remote.
- On completion of programming, if one or more buttons on the Tata Sky remote do not function correctly in TV mode, please repeat the process again.
- To ensure smooth programming of the remotes, we recommend that you use new batteries in both the Tata Sky and the TV remote.
CUSTOMIZING VOLUME CONTROL
When you programme your Tata Sky
remote for volume control, which volume you control depends on the mods:
- When in STB mode, you control volume of your set top box.
- When in TV mode, you control the volume of your TV.
You can also choose to control
only one of the 2 volumes, irrespective of the mode you are in.
To control TV volume only: Programme
the VOL+, VOL- and MUTE buttons on your Tata Sky remote as
described in setps 1-5, Press the SELECT button. While pressing the SELECT
button, also press UNIV button and hold them for 3 seconds simultaneously. The
LED will blink twice to confirm successful programming. To disable this
functionality, press UNIV and SELECT again.
To control STB volume only:
Programme the VOL+, VOL- and MUTE buttons on your Tata Sky remote,
as described in steps 1-5. Press the SELECT
button. While pressing the SELECT button, also press HOME button and hold them for 3 seconds simultaneously. The LED
will blink twice to confirm successful programming. To disable this
functionality, press HOME and SELECT
again. If your TV remote requires you to use more than one button to change
source, you will not be able to use this functionality on the Tata Sky
universal remote.
RESTORING FACTORY DEFAULT SETTINGS
To restore the factory default
settings, simultaneously press and hold the SELECT + BLUE buttons on your Tata Sky remote for 3 seconds. The
LED will blink twice. Then release these two buttons simultaneously and press
the number buttons 6, 8 and 0 sequentially within the next 10 seconds. The LED
will blink twice confirming restoration of factory settings.
The factory default settings will
erase all programmed settings for TV. The POWER,
VOL+, VOL-, MUTE and SOURCE buttons
on your Tata Sky remote will not operate the respective functions of your TV,
until they are programmed.
